Draft for review. This is a plain-language draft, not legal advice. Replace bracketed placeholders and have legal counsel review it before public launch.

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 25, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Explain It To Me at explain-it.pages.dev/app. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms with you. Do not use the app if you are under 13.

2. Accounts

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

4. AI-generated content

The app uses AI models to generate explanations, follow-ups, and quizzes. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or inappropriate. It is for general educational use only and is not professional advice. Verify important information with reliable sources before relying on it. You are responsible for how you use the output.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the text and images you submit. You grant us a limited license to process, transmit, and display that content only to provide the app, including sending it to our AI provider. Do not submit content you do not have the right to use. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Photos

Photos are recompressed in your browser and sent to our Worker and AI provider for explanation. Do not upload images containing sensitive personal information, faces of other people without permission, or content you do not have the right to use. The app does not save photos in your explanation history.

7. Third-party services

The app relies on Supabase for authentication, Cloudflare for hosting and the Worker, and Google Gemini for AI processing. Their services may be unavailable, change, or have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

8. Usage limits and availability

We may impose anonymous, signed-in, per-minute, image, and global usage limits. Limits can change. The app is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy, or that any feature will remain available.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk, or use the app abusively. You may stop using the app at any time.

You may delete your account and data from the app's header menu (Settings, then the danger zone) or from the public deletion page at explain-it.pages.dev/delete-account. You must sign in and type DELETE to confirm. This removes your account and email in Supabase Auth and the short-lived usage counters tied to it, and clears the explanations saved in this browser. Counters that aren't linked to your account expire on their own within about two days. If you cannot use the self-service page, contact us at [operator contact email].

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that output is accurate, complete, or suitable for your purpose.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so parts may not apply to you.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page and update the date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [governing jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the courts of [venue], unless applicable law requires otherwise.

14. Contact

Questions about these Terms: [operator contact email]. Replace this placeholder before launch.

Review note: confirm the legal entity, contact email, governing law, venue, liability limits, consumer-law notices, and any app-store or regional requirements before publishing.
